Airstream Pick-Up Day!

[March 14, 2020]

Fast forward three months and the world was changing as we knew it. Did any of us know what was truly happening?

Peter and I were in route to pick-up the Airstream listening on the radio to what would be published in history books, the U.S. declared a National Emergency to fight against the global pandemic (COVID-19). If you are reading this and know anything about the military… this means I would be ordered to not leave my residence (aside from duty) for many, many months.

By the time my truck and trailer were hitched up properly, the dealership closed. I was told I would get practice driving time with a salesperson before leaving the lot. Well, that did not happen…

So here is a photo of me practicing driving in circles before hitting up the interstate for hours. I have zero towing or operating an RV.

Lesson learned: towing is easy when you have no other choice ;)

Reflecting on the experience thus far, I am eternally grateful for timing. Life forced society to slow down in March. This meant for me, the multiple weddings, booked vacations, trips home to Connecticut, work trips, and my big move to upstate New York were all put on pause (or canceled). So instead I had nothing planned for 4 months. Just me, myself and I on a campground entertaining myself to the trees. A solo camping quarantine as I called it.

More to follow on the physical, mental, and spiritual changes that happened to me during this time. This was the first time in a very long time that I truly believed that everything does happen for a reason.
